Abstract

The distinction between (necessary) logical truths and semantic language unniversals (SLUs) expressed by logical constraints on meaning is indicated. SLUs are logically possible and empirically non empty but not logically necessary. It is argued that origins (or the source) of SLUs cannot be linguistically (syntactically) explained and, in addition, some syntactic facts have precisely logical and psychological explanation.
